"All of Croatia is beautiful," Slobodan Vrdoljak corrected me jovially. He is the man to contact for people flying by private jet to Zadar, on the country's Dalmatian coast. (See "Zadar Airport," on page 38.) Having only recently arrived here, we were lounging with him in the airport coffee shop.

A little after 10 p.m. one night last March, I was hosing down my waders outside the drying room at Terra del Fuego's elegant Maria Behety Lodge when Brian Yamamoto came rolling in. Aircraft and car builders over the years have mined the alphabet and assayed certain letters as precious metal-GT, R, S, X and Z come to mind-but one five-letter word still stands alone as the medal for power in a pint-size package.
Turbo.

To attract top-tier golfers to smaller tournaments scheduled around major PGA competitions, tour organizers have taken to offering free aircraft charters for the players. For the Travelers Championship to be held in June immediately after the U.S. Open, for example, tournament officials have chartered a Boeing 757 to whisk golfers and their guests from San Diego to Hartford, Conn.
