On Fridays at my daughter's preschool, the children take a designated time out to reflect on the week: what they accomplished, what they're proud of, what they could do better and how they helped others. They set goals for the following week and then spend time discussing their families, their communities and how they can make the world a better place.

We’re not owned by a company that manufactures or operates aircraft, nor are we beholden to any trade association. Just as important, we don’t let advertisers influence our coverage. We need them, of course, to pay the bills and make a profit.

Steve Jobs with iPhone
I’ve been reading and thinking a lot about the late Steve Jobs. One thing that strikes me is how strange it sounds to precede his name with “the late.”  Another is how few people like him are running companies today. I believe the number might be approximately…zero.

Virtually none of the growth in the general aviation field in the next decade will happen in the U.S. A certain business jet company is bound to go under or be acquired. A forthcoming aircraft model will be a flop.

President Obama had barely concluded his June 29 press conference when my e-mail box began filling up with responses from the general-aviation industry. The National Business Aviation Association expressed “dismay” and announced that it was sending a “strongly worded” letter to the President about his remarks, which it said “reflect a total lack of understanding” of the field.
