Arnold Palmer To Be Honored by Bizav Assocation

Legendary golfer Arnold Palmer, who was the subject of a BJT cover story earlier this year, will receive the 2010 Meritorious Service to Aviation Award from the National Business Aviation Association. The award, which will be presented on October 20 at the NBAA's annual convention, is given each year to an individual who, "by virtue of a lifetime of personal dedication, has made significant, identifiable contributions that have materially advanced aviation interests." Palmer serves as a spokesperson for the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign, which the NBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association jointly sponsor. Addressing the NBAA's 2009 convention, he explained why he opted to lend his voice to the campaign: "I know the value of business airplanes. I know what they have done for me and my companies. I know how important they are to my hometown. And I know how important they are to this country."
