Charter Company Aids Famine Relief Efforts

Aircraft charter company Chapman Freeborn has participated in the delivery of hundreds of tons of relief cargo from Europe and the Middle East to help people affected by draught in the Horn of Africa. The cargo, transported on behalf of charities and international aid agencies, has been flown into airports in Nairobi, Addis Ababa and Mogadishu utilizing full and part charters on IL-76, B767 and B747 aircraft. Chapman Freeborn's German office coordinated a charter on behalf of international aid organization Humedica. More than 30 tons of milk powder and medicines were flown from Munich to Nairobi on a DC-8 freighter. The drought--the worst in East Africa in over half a century--has affected more than 10 million inhabitants of Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia.
