Bizjet Providers Seek to Offset Carbon Emissions

Customers of InJet, a West Palm Beach, Fla.-based air charter and jet card provider, can offset carbon emissions from their flights, thanks to the company's new partnership with TerraPass, a retailer and marketer of greenhouse-gas-reduction offsets. InJet says it offers customers the option to enroll in the InJet/TerraPass program for a fee and that TerraPass then invests the fee in projects that offset greenhouse gasses, such as clean energy from wind farms and landfill gas capture. NetJets Europe, meanwhile, has reported that it is on track to become carbon-neutral by October 2012. According to the Lisbon-based fractional provider, its five-year owner contracts now mandate carbon offsetting; as a result, 62 percent of its flights are now being offset and 77 percent of its customers are participating in the program. The company has also achieved a 6 percent reduction in average per-flight emissions due to increased operational efficiency.
