BJT Editor Travels on Honeywell Relief Flight to Haiti

Business Jet Traveler editor Stephen Pope traveled to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Monday aboard a Honeywell Gulfstream G450 packed with medical supplies and aid workers on a mission to bring desperately needed help to earthquake survivors. The flight departed Morristown (N.J.) Municipal Airport early Monday morning carrying 12,000 vials of antibiotics and relief workers from Operation USA, a California-based aid organization. Honeywell's government affairs department arranged for a slot reservation allowing the G450 to land at Port-au-Prince's airport and park on the UN ramp, where the supplies were offloaded onto UN trucks. The three passengers who stayed behind in Haiti included Maxo Luma, a doctor and native Haitian now living in Vancouver whose sister and another relative were killed in the quake; Stefanie Dee Nieber, an Operation USA nurse from Los Angeles; and Steve Texas, a native Haitian living in Boston. The flight was crewed by Honeywell pilots Dave Armstrong and Marc Lajeunesse and flight attendant Nan Kramer. Kelly Reed, Honeywell director of corporate citizenship, who also went on the flight, said the company is already planning its next aid trip to Haiti and plans to lend assistance for rebuilding.
