Citation Sovereign+, Latitude Gain Steep-approach Nods
Certification allows for approach angles of up to 6.65 degrees to operate into destinations such as London City and Lugano Airports.
Textron Aviation’s Cessna Citation Sovereign+ and Latitude have received steep-approach approval from both the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency. With the certification to track approach angles of up to 6.65 degrees, these midsize jets can now operate into destinations such as London City Airport and Switzerland’s Lugano Airport. However, crews need separate approvals from authorities at these airports to conduct steep approaches there.
Due to its downtown location next to London’s financial district, London City Airport requires a 5.5-degree glideslope versus a more typical 3-degree angle. Meanwhile, Lugano Airport's location in the mouth of a valley requires an even steeper 6.65-degree descent profile.
