Duncan Aviation Delivers iPad App for Cabin Control in Falcon 900

Apple's iPad is proving as useful at 41,000 feet as it is on the ground. Aircraft service provider Duncan Aviation recently installed what it said was the first system for wireless iPad control of the cabin systems in a Falcon 900. According to the Battle Creek, Mich.-based company, the system utilizes an iPad app, an Aircell CTR Wi-Fi source and an interface unit to communicate instructions to the Falcon's Honeywell MH cabin-management system. The cabin-control interface doesn't interfere with any existing functionality or tie up system resources. Duncan said that this is "the first of many" iPad control systems that it plans to deliver over the next several months and that it is investigating the possibility of integrating iPad control with cabin systems in other aircraft models.
