Florida FBO Is Latest Addition to Ronald Reagan National Airport Access Program

National Jets, one of four FBOs at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport has met all the TSA criteria to serve as a gateway to Reagan National.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has added another FBO to its list of approved participants in the DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP), which was established in 2006, for customers wishing to fly directly into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

As it celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, National Jets, one of four FBOs at Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, was named a DCA gateway. According to Reggie Nichols, the facility’s general manager, the application process took approximately three months, including paperwork, establishing a security program, training, and inspections by the TSA, which determined that the facility would not require any modifications to comply with the agency’s FBO standard security program.

Meanwhile, Chicagoland’s B. Coleman Aviation, whose FBO at Gary/Chicago International Airport was added to the list in 2015, announced that Coleman Jet, its charter and management division, has earned authorization to operate directly into DCA.

The TSA began restricting general aviation access into the airport in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Any general aviation aircraft flying into DCA must arrive from a designated gateway facility and comply with all security aspects of the program.
