Lufthansa Private Jets Considers New Vendor

A decision is expected next month on whether Lufthansa will change bizjet vendors to provide charter services through its Lufthansa Private Jets subsidiary. The process could lead to a resumption of its alliance with fractional provider NetJets Europe, which supplied aircraft for Lufthansa Private Jets until late 2007.

Executives of Swiss International Air Lines, a subsidiary of the German carrier, have spent the last few weeks engaged in a formal consultation process over the future of its Swiss Private Aviation division, which is currently the main provider of flights for Lufthansa Private Jets. Swiss labor laws require such consultation whenever a company is considering the closure of an operation and the possible elimination of jobs. A spokeswoman for Swiss International said that it completed the consultation last week and that options for the future of Swiss Private Aviation are now being discussed, with closure appearing to be the likely outcome.
