NBAA Offers Free Safety Management Guidelines

The National Business Aviation Association has released Twelve Steps to an Effective Safety Management System: A Review of the Fundamentals, which outlines the steps necessary to prepare a comprehensive and effective formalized Safety Management System. With such a system, aircraft operators can proactively identify and mitigate potential safety risks. "NBAA advocates that aircraft operators of all sizes implement an SMS," said Doug Carr, NBAA vice president for safety, security and regulation. "That is why we are making these guidelines available to all members of the aviation community, not just NBAA members. The guidelines cab be downloaded for free from a page on the NBAA's Web site.
