New Technology Could Make the Skies Smoother (and keep your coffee from spilling)

Check out the invention that could prevent the turbulence interrupting your smooth flight.

Turbulence Solutions has demonstrated its real-time Turbulence Cancelling System (TCS) aboard a piloted test aircraft, showing more than 80% reduction in turbulence-induced vertical acceleration. Designed for use in both fixed-wing and advanced air mobility (AAM) aircraft, the technology uses sensors on the leading edge of the aircraft’s wing and active control surface deflections to counteract turbulent air in real time. The company aims to get this system onto larger aircraft like airliners and business jets. During the recent Aero Friedrichshafen show in Germany, Amy Wilder got a chance to see the technology demonstrator firsthand.
