N.Y. Jets Training Facility Gets Approval for Helipad
The NFL team was approved to contsruct its own helipad at its Florham Park training facility, just minutes away from New Jersey's Morristown Airport
The New York Jets football team recently received permission from the New Jersey State Department of Transportation to construct a private-use helipad at its training facility in Florham Park. According to a Department Of Transportation spokesman, the team intends to fly team executives and players directly into and out of the facility, located within minutes of Morristown Airport (MMU).
“We’ve approved construction of the facility, and upon final inspection, we’ll issue a license for operation,” the spokesman told BJT, adding that use is restricted to a certain number of operations over the course of the year, which averages out to three per week. The helipad, approved for day and night VFR operations, was supported by town officials, and approved after a 30-day public comment period. It will use the same established flight path as MMU, whose Class D airspace it shares.
