Slot trials start at Cannes airport

Cannes-Mandelieu Airport in southern France has earned the dubious distinction of being the first dedicated business aviation airport in Europe to be subject to mandatory arrival and departure slots. According to Umberto Vallino, the facility's customer service manager, the slot program was imposed by France's civil aviation authority, which argues that its air traffic controllers can't handle the volume of traffic around the Cannes and nearby Nice-Cфte d'Azur airports.
