St. Maarten's FBOs Resume Full Operations

Execujet's FBO on St. Maarten has resumed operations, more than a month after the island was pummeled by Category 5 Hurricane Irma, the services provider has announced. The facility reopened handling a transient Falcon 8X.

According to the Luxaviation Group subsidiary, fuel is available without restriction at the Princess Juliana International Airport facility. Operations are during daylight hours only, but this will change when runway lights and navigation aids are again functioning, possibly by the end of this month.

Facing power and water outages, the service providers at the two airports met the urgent crisis head-on.

“We are proud of our staff at the Execujet St. Maarten facility,” noted group FBO director Ettore Poggi. “They have worked tirelessly to get our FBO fully operational as soon as possible.” Signature Flight Support affiliate Arrindell Aviation, which shares the airport’s general aviation terminal, also reported that it is fully operational and supporting business aviation and commercial flights.

St. Maarten continues to rebuild its tourism infrastructure ahead of what it hopes will be a busy holiday season. SXM’s main commercial terminal had its roof torn off by the storm, and the hard-hit island’s cruise ship terminal is expected to remain shuttered until next month.
