Used Bizjet Sales on the Rise

Sales of preowned business jets and turboprops, as well as turbine helicopters, are up significantly from a year ago, according to aviation industry data supplier Jetnet. From January through October, the number of transactions increased 16 percent for business jets, 15.2 percent for turbine helicopters and 4.5 percent for turboprops. Inventory slowly but steadily declined during the same period from 16.7 to 15.2 percent of the in-service fleet for preowned business jets and from 11.4 to 10.7 percent for turboprops. Inventory of turbine helicopters rose slightly, however, from 6.8 to 7.2 percent.

Despite increased transactions and generally lower inventories, JetNet said, aircraft are selling more slowly now than they did a year ago. Asking prices, meanwhile, are down 12.6 percent, 11.6 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively, for jets, turbine helicopters and turboprops.
