A fractional-ownership program focused on light business aircraft, PlaneSense sells shares in and operates Pilatus PC-12 turboprops and PC-24 light twin-jets. Nextant 400XTi aircraft are also part of the core fleet while the company awaits the arrival of more PC-24s.

In 1992 in Norwood, Massachusetts, pilot and former electrical engineer and McKinsey & Co. management consultant George Antoniadis founded Alpha Flying and its Alpha Flying Club. The latter provided rental and management services for high-performance piston and turbine aircraft and, in 1995, it took possession of a Pilatus PC-12, the 20th production model of the rugged and roomy turboprop single. In 1996 Antoniadis founded PlaneSense as a subsidiary of Alpha, with the fractional-ownership program featuring the Swiss-made PC-12 as its sole platform. A series of moves to larger facilities in New Hampshire over the next decade took the company headquarters to Nashua in 1998, Manchester in 2000, and finally in 2007 to its current purpose-built location at Portsmouth International Airport in Pease. In 2012 parent Alpha rebranded as PlaneSense. Entering the jet age in 2014, the company placed an order for six PC-24s, and in 2015 it added the Nextant 400XTi (remanufactured Beechjet 400a light jets) to the fleet. PlaneSense took delivery of the world’s first production PC-24 in 2018. The company, which over the years has conducted more than 300,000 flights, now operates the world’s largest civilian fleet of Pilatus PC-12s and PC-24s.
