Magellan Jets

This Northeast U.S.–based brokerage offers on-demand charter as well as a wide array of jet cards.

What It Is: Privately owned Magellan Jets is a Northeast U.S.–based brokerage that provides on-demand charter and jet cards. It is IS-BAO certified and ARG/US rated.

How It Grew: Longtime friends Joshua Hebert (cofounder of charter access and auction site jets.com), Anthony Tivnan, and Gregory Belezerian launched the company in 2008, promising access to a private jet within 10 hours. Magellan prepaid operators to cement relationships and gain the use of their best aircraft. Within months of its founding, Magellan introduced its Voyager jet card, offering guaranteed hourly rates and one-way and round-trip pricing, along with perks like aircraft upgrades, for a $250,000 deposit. In 2012 the company introduced a 10-hour jet card on the Eclipse 500, the lowest-hour-denominated offering from a major provider, with no minimum flight times or blackout dates. That same year, the company debuted a private jet search app for iPhones that accessed real-time charter market information and allowed booking via Docu-signed contracts.
